Well, hello again.

It’s been years. This blog has been gathering digital dust while I quilted, sold sewing machines, quilted some more, and generally lived my life offline.

I’m Charlie Scott. I quilt — 30+ years now — and I spent 19 years selling Husqvarna Viking sewing machines, which means I know my way around a feed dog and I’m not shy about saying so.

Star blocks on the design wall: the Starfish pattern by Fig Tree & Co.

So why wake the blog up now? Because I’ve got a project I’m dreaming out loud over, and I want somewhere to do it that isn’t an algorithm’s slot machine. There’s a free sampler pattern — “Star Light, Star Bright” by the Andover Design Team — and I’m playing with a recolor: modern blues, swapped blocks, and a sashing glow-up I’m a little bit obsessed with.

Here’s what you’ll get around here: modern quilts, works in progress (messy middles included), real talk about what works and what doesn’t, and 19 years of sewing-machine knowledge whenever it’s useful.

New posts drop every Tuesday. Next week, we’re talking sashing daydreams—specifically why I’m dumping half-square triangles for half-rectangle triangles, and the dead-simple way to piece them.

Stick around. It’s good to be back.
